The longer the aluminium plank, the better (generally).

Longer requires less moving around of your setup, and provides a more spacious workspace. So it is normally recommended to go as long as you can possible. 

The right length planks will also be defined by the space you have to get the job done.

If you're regularly using planks or have multiple different spaces, then it will be better to have a range of different planks lengths to avoid costly delays and extra work. 

There is no one size fits all. 
Instead, we choose the right plank size best matched to the space and limitations we face.

Yakka Gear offers planks made from one solid extrusion and reinforced with 2x internal support columns.

We refuse to offer the extendable plank, because it is made of many individual sliding components which may create unsafe wobble and instability when walking across it.
The shape is not symmetric on each end, which means it is unsuitable when used as a ramp because it is off-balanced.

The rubbers are subject to wear and tear, which is why we do not offer this as a default.

This product instead features a double knurling in the aluminium.

A better solution may be placing down a rubber or silicone mat if required.

If you ultimately want to get the planks with the rubbers inserted regardless of the above, then please contact us for availability.

Our planks use a removable endcap system, which allow you to easily relocate it to the newly cut end.

Cuts may be made made with a circular saw with an aluminium cutting blade. Please seek expert help if required.

Why not just put 2 planks side by side then?

If you have ever tried this then you will already know how dangerous it is...
This is because the planks will lift up and down independently of each other as you shift your weight from one plank to another — which creates a trap for getting your feet or tools stuck.

The Expert Plank Clamp prevents the planks from moving independently.

But not all clamps are made equal.

Avoid using any design with a nut-and-bolt system that requires an Allen Key (aka Hex Key) for tightening. These designs are frustratingly fiddly to use.
